Mise-en-scene (setting, props, costume, hair and make-up)

Setting: The whole of the film takes place in New York City but in this scene it is shot in Times Square, Manhattan. You can see that it has been raining recently because of the light reflections all over the road. There would be a lot of people around that would be filming the stunt as it happens which watchers could switch to if they wanted.

Props: The props in this scene are the motorbike that Vee and Ian are riding, as well there is the helmet that both are wearing but Ian is wearing a protector to make him blindfolded to complete the challenge. There are also other vehicles on the roads that they are having to dodge in and out in order not to crash.

Costume: Vee and Ian are wearing the outfits that they were dared to wear from a previous challenge after having their items stolen. Vee is wearing a $4000 dress and Ian is wearing smart dressing from the same store which also looks costly.

Hair + Makeup: Vee and Ian are both wearing helmets meaning that their hair is not visible, they are moving at high speeds.

Performance (character expression and movement)

Ian is holding his trust into Vee to steer the motorbike in the right direction to make sure that she does not crash into anything knowing that tens of thousands of people are watching live as well as getting life threatening injuries afterwards that possibly could be caused. Ian acts supportive to Vee to make sure she knows that she is doing well to keep her confidence up.

Whereas Vee is terrified because she has never driven a motorbike before and all of a sudden she is in control of the bike whilst going at high speeds with a possibility of life threatening injuries if she makes a wrong move, this results in her being terrified starting off with but after some time with Ian reassurance she manages to steer for the whole two minutes in order to complete the challenge.

Lighting

This scene is shot late at night with artificial light (shops / apartments, street lights and car lights) that is shining into the road from above.

Cinematography (the camera shots and angles)

The cinematography in this scene consists of close up shots of the time left to complete the challenge. Also, there are extreme close up shots to show Vee and Ian reactions, As well, there are also POV shots from Vee and Ian to show what they see. Occasionally, wide shots are used to show what is around them on the highway which they need to dodge.

Editing (the cuts and transitions)

The editing used is short sharp cuts to create tension. Cross-cutting is used when panning across to the traffic lights. cut on action is used when running the red light for example. A jump cut is used near the end to skip a portion of going through the tunnel. Whereas cutaways are used to show the audience reactions live.

Sound

The Diagetic sounds that can be heard includes the communications between Vee and Ian, as well as the sounds of other vehicles passing by and the reactions of fear from the audience as they watch it.

The Non-diagetic sounds that can be heard includes the music which was added in to create tension throughout the challenge.
